Tooth Whitening and Teeth Bleaching

Teeth Whitening Benefits

There is a link between unhealthy teeth and gums and developing serious health problems such as pneumonia, cardiovascular problems, and stroke. There are many steps that you can take to protect the health of your teeth. Having your teeth whitened by a dentist helps fight against harmful plaque and germs building up. Teeth whitening (or teeth bleaching) is a simple, non-invasive dental treatment used to change the color of natural tooth enamel and is an ideal way to enhance the beauty of your smile. The following are the benefits of tooth whitening and how it can protect your teeth.

More Attractive Smile

Whitening your teeth will leave you with a brighter smile that will enhance your appearance, which can help increase your self-confidence and boost your self-esteem. Tooth whitening is not permanent, so you may need a touch up every several years. You may need to get it done more often if you smoke or drink tea, coffee, or wine.

Numerous Health Benefits

In addition to improving your physical appearance, whitening your teeth can provide you with numerous health benefits. Teeth whitening helps kill certain bacteria that cause tooth decay and gum disease. Keeping your teeth clean and free of harmful plaque is an excellent way to prevent serious health problems.

Affordable

Teeth whitening is an inexpensive procedure that can provide you with amazing results. You can also purchase a touch-up kit to use at home to extend the duration of the whitening without having to spend too much money.

It Will not Damage Your Teeth

A common misconception about teeth whitening is that it causes damage to teeth and increases sensitivity to hot and cold temperatures. The process is designed to reverse the effects of stains on the teeth and will not cause any damage.

Tooth Whitening

There are many reasons why teeth can become discolored and stained, such as from smoking, aging, certain medications and certain foods and beverages. Brushing your teeth will often not be enough to remove these stains, and tooth whitening is the best option. The quick, affordable and painless procedure will leave you with a bright smile that you can feel confident about.

In Office Teeth Bleaching

Requires a 2 hour office visit where you will leave with your teeth shades lighter. If you choose, we can also fabricate custom trays that you wear at home to continue teeth bleaching.

Home Teeth Bleaching

This type of teeth bleaching (or teeth whitening) usually requires two visits. At the first appointment impressions (molds) will be made of your teeth to fabricate custom, clear, plastic trays.

At your second appointment, you will try in the trays for proper fit, and adjustments will be made if necessary. The trays are worn with a special whitening solution once a day for 30 minutes to an hour for a couple of weeks, depending on the degree of staining and desired level of whitening.

It is normal to experience tooth sensitivity during the time you are whitening your teeth, but it will subside shortly after you have stopped bleaching. You will receive care instructions for your teeth and trays, and be encouraged to visit us regularly to help maintain a beautiful, healthy, radiant smile.

AACD Teeth Whitening Dentist Supervised Treatments vs. Over-the-Counter Kits

Numerous over-the-counter teeth whitening products are now available, but dentist-supervised teeth whitening remains the safest and most effective method for brightening your smile.
