What should I do during a dental emergency?

If you or your child experiences a dental emergency, it’s important to stay calm. In the case of a knocked-out permanent tooth, place the tooth back in its socket, under your tongue, in some milk or saliva, or between your gums and cheek.

If you experience tooth, mouth, gum, or jaw pain, place a cold compress on your mouth. Rinse out your mouth with warm water if you experience a broken, cracked, chipped, or painful tooth.
